This picture of Carol was taken in-between brain surgeries. She had one large tumor taken off the left frontal lobe (stage 2 or 3), and it started growing back a few months later. She then had the same surgery again and has been cancer free now for 13+ years! After her first surgery in February of 1999, I challenged her to go with me to Guadalupe Mountain National Park (where we hiked and camped a number of years in a row) and hike up Texas’ 5th highest mountain with me. She accepted the challenge and that December, we made the climb. Needless to say, we had a wonderful, emotional experience on top of the mountain.
