Barbara Baker tirelessly lived life to its fullest. She spent her days teaching yoga to students at San Jacinto College and at the Clear Lake Recreation Center. She stressed the beauty and peace of nature. She helped all her students to find peace and strength through meditative yoga. Such peace and strength can only be viewed as a lasting gift she gave us that has seen many of us through the trials life brings. As an artist, the phases of Barbara’s life influenced her to move from realism to abstract impressionism. During the summer months she could be found teaching children graphic arts at UH Clear Lake. Ms. Baker was the embodiment of beauty and grace and the world is better for her having been a part of it. In 2007, Barbara Baker began her 16 month battle with brain cancer. In the summer of 2008 family, friends, students and the community said good-bye to Barbara. Ms. Baker’s family asked that Barbara be remembered through donations to the Dr. Marnie Rose Foundation, it is the goal of theRemembering Barbara BakerTeam to honor that request.
