Larry Thompson

Larry Thompson was an awesome, God-fearing man, who loved people & had a natural gift of encouraging anyone he met to be the best they can be! He never tired of sharing his love for God & people wherever he went. He loved living outside the hustle & bustle of Houston proper & thanked God for his home life in the more rural atmosphere of Rosenberg in Fort Bend County. He enjoyed antique car shows & the refurbishing of his 1974 Cutlass Oldsmobile (pictured).

On April 7, 2010 Larry was diagnosed with a Gliomatosis Cerebri (also called an infiltrating astrocytic neoplasm), a left temporal tumor extending into the brain stem. His subsequent surgery was on April 12 & was performed by Mischer Neurosurgical Associate, Dr Dong H Kim. Thirty (30) radiation with chemo (Temodar) treatments followed with wonderful results; MRI results showed “interval improvement in appearance of the infiltrating brain tumor”. His last MRI to evaluate the gliomatosis cerebri that year was good; there were no changes from the last one taken 3 months previous.

In addition to Larry’s battle with brain cancer in 2010, he had other challenges. On June 11 in a car accident, Larry horribly injured his left leg. On July 25, he fell and suffered a T-10 fracture of his spine. On December 4, he developed a huge blood clot in his lung & another was found still in his leg. With all of these incidents & illness(s), Larry still stood strong!

To God be the Glory for all the good things in Larry’s life!!! Larry passed away July 3, 2012.
