Maria “Anita” was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved spending time in the kitchen whipping up delicious meals for the family, thrifting and enjoyed sharing childhood stories with her kids and grandkids. She was diagnosed with GBM (Glioblastoma MultiForme) Grade 4 brain cancer in 2016 and given 6 months to live. Faced with this obstacle she was determined to not let it rule her life. She was a fearless warrior who went through multiple craniotomies, rounds of chemo, radiation, treatments & studies. She fought as hard as she could and we believe that her positive mindset, courageous attitude, contagious laughter and the absolute will to live her best life is what allowed her to stay on this earth longer than expected. We want to thank Peak Brain Tumor support group at Houston Methodist for providing patient and family education, resources and for connecting us to her wonderful doctors (Dr. Ivo Tremont & Dr. David Baskin). They were truly caring doctors and did all that they could for her.
