I was diagnosed with Grade 3 Anaplastic Astrocytoma in August 2007. I underwent a 10-hour surgery at MD Anderson. After the surgery, I had left-sided weakness. I was transferred to TIRR for a month for intensive rehabilitation. I worked very hard to regain my strength. I spent a total of two months in the hospital. I then had radiation in Winter 2008. At the time, my four children were 5, twins 10, and a 15 year old.

In 2010, I underwent a brain biopsy for a recurrence seen on my MRI. It was a grade 4 Glioblastoma. I also had my gallbladder removed that month to prepare for my chemotherapy, which I did for one year.

Prior to my diagnosis, I was a R.N for 18 years in the Recovery Room, ICU and outpatient surgery.

My husband Mike, family and friends in Katy surround me. I have been in therapy on and off over the years. I just recently returned again.

Today I enjoy my life. I always have hope, and I will never give up. Each day is a gift that is why I call it the present. I got to see my 5-year-old finish elementary.

I have participated in the Run for the Rose for over seven years. My first year, I was in a wheelchair, and now, I walk without a cane. God does perform miracles.
